Grand Boutique Hotel Essex
Scheduled opening date: Late 2016
Number of bedrooms: 20
Leigh’s Grand Hotel in Essex is in the process of being brought back to life by TOWIE star Mick Norcross, who is fulfilling a lifelong dream by restoring the property.
The hotel has an extensive history dating back to the end of the Victorian period, but fell into a state of disrepair when it shut in 2008.
Norcross bought the lease on the building in 2012 and renovation work began in April last year. However, work then was brought to a stand-still in September 2014 after knotweed was discovered, but Norcross promised that he remains “totally committed” to the project.
When the hotel eventually reopens, it will be named the Grand Boutique Hotel, and consist of 20 bedrooms, a piano lounge, bar, restaurant, team rooms and luxury spa.
Norcross said: “I have long admired this iconic building and dreamed of rejuvenating it to reflect the original architecture. It has been my desire to bring the quality West End hotel experience to Essex and I see this building as the perfect opportunity to achieve my dream.”
