Guernsey boutique bids for bottom line boost with revamped new health club

The health club and spa at St Pierre Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort in Guernsey has been given a makeover to the tune of £2.5m.

The hotel, part of the Hand Picked Hotels Collection, unveiled the new space to an eagerly-awaiting crowd at a launch event last week, in which Olympic gold medallist Sally Gunnell was the guest of honour.

The new-look health club and spa project was part of a wider £4m investment into the hotel as a whole, and makes up half of the £8m budgeted for developments works to other Hand Picked Hotels in the Channel Islands.

As part of the work at St Pierre Park, the club has been reconfigured, with new interiors, new technology and facilities. It’s also become the first health club in the UK and Channel Islands to offer Matrix In-Trinity board classes.

A new indoor pool and wet area has been created with LED mood lighting, an infinity wall and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Two new experience showers have been brought in, along with a new two-tier sauna and steam room.

The pool and wet areas lead out to a new outdoor decked terrace, spa pool, outdoor shower, sun loungers and seating area.

A new cardio gym has also been added.

Julia Hands, chairman and chief executive, Hand Picked Hotels, said: “We are delighted to have welcomed Sally Gunnell to experience our new Health Club and Spa. This is an outstanding new facility for our members and our hotel guests, combined with the excellent level of service provided by our talented team at St Pierre Park. The £2.5m investment in the Health Club & Spa is part of our £4m investment to date in St Pierre Park Hotel and our £8m total investment programme in our hotels in the Channel Islands.”

Dina Le Lacheur, general manager, St Pierre Park Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, said: “We are proud to offer unrivalled facilities on Guernsey and we look forward to welcoming many new members as well as people who were club regulars before the refurbishment.”
