The bosses at Donald Trump’s hotel in Scotland have peeved off guests after refusing to serve one of the country’s best-loved fizzy drinks.
Trump Turnberry has put a stop to serving Irn Bru at the five-star golf resort, saying that the luminous orange drink stains the carpet.
The Irn Bru ban came to light when guests asked for the drink to be supplied at an event and were refused, with angry Scots taking to Twitter to vent their frustration.
One stated that Trump had ‘declared war on Scotland’.
The Ayrshire resort, which was acquired by the US President in 2014, was recently given a £200m revamp, with new carpets installed across the property.
Speaking to Ayrshire Post, general manager Ralph Porciani said: “We can’t have it staining, when to replace the ballroom carpet would be £500,000 alone. We have Irn Bru stains in carpets which I can’t let.”
