The five-star G&V Royal Mile Hotel Edinburgh has been named Scotland’s Best Boutique Hotel at the World Travel Awards 2015, held on September 6.
The 136-bedroom boutique in the heart of the Scottish capital beat off stiff competition from the likes of Le Monde Hotel, The Glass House and The Pool House to be voted into the top spot by travel and tourism professionals worldwide as part of the awards.
G&V Royal Mile Hotel has recently undergone a redesign of its six designer suites, each one conceptualised by a local Scottish designer, including fashion designer, Judy R Clark; painter, Christine Clark; textiles designer, Hatti Pattisson and interior design duo, Timorous Beasties.
This is part of a wider phased refurbishment, which will see the boutique embark on a complete makeover of its 136 bedrooms, lobby area and Bar G&V, due for completion in early 2016.
Dale Simpson, general manager, G&V Royal Mile Hotel, said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to the team here at G&V – we couldn’t have won this award without their dedication and vision. Each member of staff is committed to providing a truly memorable, five-star experience for our guests. At G&V we are leading the way in modern luxury and with our ongoing re design, we endeavor to make our hotel the most stylish place to stay and experience the Scottish Capital.”
All the winners of the World Travel Awards 2015 were announced at the ceremony at the Forte Village Resort in Sardinia on Sunday September 6.
World Travel Awards president, Graham Cooke, said: “Being recognised as Scotland’s Leading Boutique Hotel is testament to G&V Royal Mile Hotel’s leading five-star service, stand out interiors and commitment to an enhanced luxury experience for each and every guest. The hotel’s outstanding attributes have been noted by our voters and it is a pleasure to honour the property in this way.”
