Ham Yard Hotel, London
Opened in: June 2014
Owned by: Firmdale Holdings

The story: Firmdale’s latest hotly-anticipated opening launched in London’s Soho in June, taking the company’s portfolio of UK properties to eight. Joining West End beauties, Charlotte Street Hotel, Covent Garden Hotel and the Soho Hotel, Tim and Kit Kemp are the masterminds behind the new Ham Yard Hotel, which caused a terrific stir when it finally opened its doors early in the year. The interiors are all individually designed by Kit Kemp herself, adding her flair and immaculate style to each element right down to the finest detail.

Why we like it: As well as the hotel’s 91 bright, vibrant and eclectic bedrooms, Ham Yard houses a cinema, roof garden and even a bowling alley. The lobby bars are great for business meetings and follow the pattern of all Firmdale hotels; it attracts ‘the scene’, while the restaurants play second fiddle. It displays a diverse spread of ethnic art on the walls and isn’t afraid to be bold.
