Harbour Hotels snaps up Chichester hotel in £6m move

Harbour Hotels has purchased The Ship Hotel in Chichester in a £6m deal by the fast-evolving hotel group.

The group has acquired the Grade-II listed Georgian hotel from Chichester Hotel Company in a private sale, marking Harbour Hotels’ fourth new property announcement in just a few months.

The hotel, currently trading at The Ship Hotel, consists of 37 bedrooms, including a luxury cottage, plus a recently refurbished restaurant.

The property also comes with planning consent for a large extension, which would include 25 additional bedrooms, function facilities and undercroft parking.

The Ship will be re-branded as a Harbour Hotel in early 2016.

Mike Warren, managing director of Harbour Hotels, comments: “We are very excited to be taking the Harbour Hotels brand to Chichester; it’s an exciting location and a key strategic position from our perspective. The Ship is a prestigious, landmark property with some outstanding features. There is an excellent team of staff at the property and we are delighted to have such an addition to the Harbour Hotels portfolio.”

The latest acquisition follows Harbour Hotels’ recent announcement of new properties in Brighton, Bristol and South Sands (Salcombe).
