glh Hotels has announced the appointment of a general manager who will take the helm of the brand’s first Hard Rock Hotel London, set to open its doors in early 2019.
The hotel group has welcomed Oliver Kahf to the role who boasts over 33 years in hospitality, having lived and worked in 14 countries on four continents during his career.
After starting his journey in food and beverage, the last two decades he has managed a range of brands and resorts across the Starwood Hotels, Marriott International and Kempinski portfolios.
Commenting on his appointment, Oliver Kahf said: “I am very proud to take up the role as general manager of the Hard Rock Hotel London, which we aim to make one of London’s most exciting hotels. Bringing together the iconic Hard Rock name with a prestigious hotel site that has played host to legends including Jimi Hendrix and Martha Reeves is a phenomenal opportunity and I am truly looking forward to it.”
Neil Gallagher, CEO of glh Hotels, said: “Oliver brings with him an exceptional skill-set and a wealth of international experience in hotel management, conversions and hotel openings. I am thrilled to welcome him to the team of general managers at our properties, representing Great London Hospitality at its best.”
Last summer it was revealed that glh Hotels had signed a deal to bring the first Hard Rock Hotel to London, with the conversion of The Cumberland Hotel in Marble Arch on Hyde Park.
The hotel will be home to 900 bedrooms and was originally scheduled for completion in summer 2018.
