The Inn on the Lake in Ullswater has announced the official appointment of its new head chef, who joined the 2 AA Rosette team in February.
The Lake District hotel welcomed Mark Harris just over three months ago to head up the hotel’s award-winning kitchen operation.
Since then he has already made significant changes to the hotel’s dining menu and brought in a fresh perspective to help continue to drive the restaurant business at the Inn on the Lake.
Gary Wilson, general manager at the Inn on the Lake has been impressed with the start Harris has made. He said: “Mark is an extremely professional and accomplished chef who has come from a Michelin Star background. He has made subtle changes to the menu; such as introducing homemade suet pudding to replace the traditional steak pie in Ramblers Bar and new dishes in the Orangery, like fresh crab salad. Overall it is just the small changes and attention to detail that have been noticed and enjoyed by our clientele.”
For Harris, the head chef position particularly attracted him due to its location and family heritage. Harris commented: “The location and the fact that the hotel is family run really appealed to me, the staff and management here are charming and the standard of hospitality is outstanding.”
Inn on the Lake became part of Lake District Hotels Ltd in 2000, since then the hotel has undergone a complete refurbishment and is continuously being upgraded.
In 2012 the Inn on the Lake achieved a four star status and two AA Rosettes for its Lake View restaurant
