The executive chef at Lancaster London hotel on the edge of Hyde Park has proved that hospitality really can run in the family, by appointing his daughter to be part of his F&B team.
Ben Purton, who is responsible for all the food within the luxury hotel, has hired Megan to join the front of house events team, where her first taste of hospitality will be serving at a dinner for 450 people.
Purton oversees the food and beverage operations at Nipa Thai, Island Grill, Lounge Bar, Lancaster London Afternoon Tea, conference areas, as well as room service, catering for up to 3,000.
He leads a team of 85 in the kitchen, plus Lancaster London’s Apprentice Scheme which gives young people the chance to become fully trained in all areas of the kitchen operation.
He has also been a Springboard Ambassador since 2001 and won the Ambassador Awards In 2003.
This is Megan’s first foray into the hotel industry, coming from previous roles at Waltham Forest Council and Justine Armstrong Small Horse Riding School.
