Headlam Hall in Teesdale has joined Chateaux & Hotels Collection, marking the group’s first UK member outside of London.
The four-star hotel in the north east has been run by the Robinson family for the last 35 years, and consists of 39 bedrooms and suites, plus a 2 AA Rosette restaurant, spa and 9-hole golf course.
It now joins Chateaux & Hotels Collection, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, and its other members across 16 countries including France and Italy.
It is presided over by legendary chef Alain Ducasse and embraces charming, independent hotels and gourmet restaurants.
The new addition confirms the collection’s intention to expand in Britain, plans for which were announced in February.
Thomas Robinson, Headlam Hall’s managing director said: “I have personally stayed in many of the Chateaux & Hotels Collection member hotels on holidays in France, and am delighted that Headlam Hall is the collection’s first UK member outside London. We expect that the international exposure that our membership will give us will help put the Durham Dales well and truly on the map in France and wider through Europe, and we will work closely with the collection’s international sales offices to promote the hotel, local attractions such as the Bowes Museum, and the wider Dales area.”
