A historic hotel in Southport is to undergo a £1m renovation, to mark its first upgrade in more than three decades.
The Royal Clifton Hotel, operated by Front Foot Hospitality is to undergo a major refurbishment of all bedrooms and public areas, having last been given a makeover 34 years ago by the previous owners.
The work began this month and is scheduled for completion mid-April, with development being carried out floor by floor, starting at the top and working its way down.
The iconic building dates back to 1885 and was bought by its current owners in 2015, who have spent the last two years investing ‘significantly’ in back of house areas.
New high speed Wifi was installed, along with a new PMS and boiler, with the property already scoring highly on Best Western’s grading initiative.
The Royal Clifton Hotel in Southport will upgrade to become ‘Best Western Plus’ standard once the work is finished in spring 2018.
Michelle Jackson, the hotel’s general manager, said: “Southport locals have a strong loyal connection with the hotel, and it will be fantastic to share our new look with them all.
