Hong Kong businessman bids for ‘beautiful’ Darwen boutique

A Hong Kong businessman is hoping to bring a ‘beautiful’ new asset to the town of Darwen in Lancashire, in the form of a stylish new boutique hotel.

Pal Pang is wishing to transform the former Frankie’s Bar on Church Street into a 14-bedroom ‘designer’ boutique, and is hoping the project will be ready for the public in 2017.

He first bought the property at auction in 2014 and will use his extensive experience in the hotel, architecture and design sectors to bring the new venture to life.

As told to the Lancashire Telegraph, Pang hopes that the hotel will help boost the nightlife and visitor trades in Darwen.

His plan is to build a designer hotel on the site of the former bar, which was set alight by arsonists in December 2012 and then lay derelict until Pang demolished the building in August this year.

A restaurant, bar and cafe will complement the 14 bedrooms, and the finished project will mark the first of its kind in Darwen’s town centre.

Sunnyhurst councillor Dave Smith and Blackburn with Darwen regeneration boss Phil Riley warmly welcomed the scheme.
