An award-winning chef turned hospitality expert has been appointed general manager of the Wordsworth Hotel & Spa in the Lake District.
Gordon Cartwright boasts an extensive history in the industry, with experience at Roux Restaurants, as a hotel inspector for the AA and even establishing his own consultancy.
He now joins the team at the 4-star boutique country house hotel from Gilpin Hotel & Lake House in Windermere, where he was general manager and chef director.
Cartwright was appointed general manager at Wordsworth by new owner Guyzance Hall Ltd, which recently acquired the 39-bedroom property.
Speaking to The Westmoreland Gazetter, Cartwright said: “I am delighted to be taking up the reins at such an historic and iconic hotel as the Wordsworth Hotel & Spa. We have great ambitions, for the hotel with performance, quality and growth at the top of the agenda.
“This is an exciting time for the hotel and for me personally, and I’m looking forward to putting my ideas into action to help The Wordsworth achieve its full potential, and become one of the Lake District’s leading destination hotels.”
