Boutique chain, Hotel du Vin has announced the acquisition of Cannizaro House in Wimbledon, taking the brand’s portfolio up to 16 and securing the first London base for the group.
The four AA-star property was purchased for an undisclosed sum by the leading boutique group, and will mark Hotel du Vin’s first acquisition within the M25, having previously focused on regional towns and cities on the South Coast and Scotland.
Cannizaro House is located in 34 acres of Cannizaro Park, close to Wimbledon Common, and enjoys strong occupancy throughout the summer during the famous tennis championship.
The 46-bedroom property has been owned and managed by various operators in recent years and now Hotel du Vin will begin a £1m refurbishment of the entire hotel to bring it in line with the rest of the brand.
Gary Davis, chief executive of Hotel du Vin, said: “We look forward to introducing Hotel du Vin’s distinctive style of chic accommodation and destination dining to the area and becoming a vital and integral part of the local community.”
Nick Halliday, chief operating officer said: “We shall be applying to Cannizaro House the same spirit and values of Hotel du Vin, which have remained fairly consistent since the brand was launched 20 years ago.”
