Manchester boutique, Hotel Gotham, has launched a MasterChef-style culinary competition in a bid to find its next apprentice chef.
The hotel, which is part of Bespoke Hotels, has teamed up with catering supplier Cooksmill to launch the contest that will see young budding chefs compete for a chance to secure a year-long apprenticeship at the hotel’s two AA Rosette restaurant.
The “Cooksmill Cook-Off” live final will take place in September, and will be a joint venture between the catering supplier, Hotel Gotham, and apprenticeship provider, Positive Outcomes.
To enter the competition, candidates are being asked initially to submit a short video of themselves preparing their signature dish. The best clips, as chosen by the Cooksmill staff, will then be uploaded to the firm’s website with the finalists being put to the public vote. The top three will then be asked to cook live in the final in September, where the overall winner will be decided.
The deadline for video entries is July 29 2016 at 6pm.
Mario Ovsenjak, general manager of Hotel Gotham, said: “We’re delighted to support this competition, and to be able to help up-and-coming chefs. At Hotel Gotham, we believe that the best way to learn is by working with talented people. The winner will have the chance to work in our state-of-the-art restaurant, alongside our fantastic chefs, learning as they go. It’s an excellent opportunity.”
In addition to the apprenticeship, the competition winner will be presented with a set of I.O.Shen kitchen knives worth £250 provided by Cooksmill.
