InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has revealed that its latest Hotel Indigo has opened in York.
The hotel group has entered into a franchise agreement with Sojourn Hotels to launch the new 101-bedroom boutique offering on Walmgate, York city’s thriving foodie quarter.
Hotel Indigo York is situated in the city centre within easy reach of a number of restaurants, bars, boutiques, artisan shops and galleries.
The new hotel, like others within the Hotel Indigo brand, takes inspiration from its local surroundings, with its design and artwork influenced by the city of York.
Hotel Indigo York has also partnered with Yorkshire Meatball Co, one of the UK’s only speciality meatball restaurants, to serve guests something different.
Tom Rowntree, IHG’s vice president for Hotel Indigo, Europe said: “We’re enormously proud to be opening our first Hotel Indigo property in York. Hotel Indigo provides a refreshingly local experience for guests through stylish design, locations in unique and culturally-rich neighbourhoods, topped off with intimate, personalised service. We’re the place to discover something new and feel inspired whether you’re a local, or a visitor travelling for business or leisure.”
Mike Sweeting, hotel manager, Hotel Indigo York commented: “The neighbourhood of Walmgate provides the perfect base for exploring York’s rich cultural heritage. With our chocolate inspired décor and emphasis on real local flavours we are ready to give guests an authentic Yorkshire welcome.”
Hotel Indigo York adds to the other 18 branded properties in Europe within the IHG portfolio, while another 11 are in the pipeline. The new hotel joins 9 other IHG hotels in Yorkshire.
