Despite hotels in London posting solid results in March, it’s hotels in the UK provinces that are proving to be the real winners in the contest for trade, according to the latest HotStats figures.
While London hotels showed a virtually flat year-on-year movement last month, the UK provinces continued to post strong performance.
In particular, South East hoteliers recorded an 8.4% rise in GOPPAR and an increase in occupancy of 2.5 percentage points. Average Room Rate (ARR) grew 1.6%, which all resulted in a RevPAR uplift of 5.3% to £57.02.
In March, Chester hotels also recorded significant year-on-year growth across all key performance indicators with TRevPAR and GOPPAR increasing by 3.8% and 33.7% respectively.
A combined surge in occupancy of 3.5 percentage points to 68.4% and in ARR of 2.1% to £74.25 generated a RevPAR uplift of 7.5%, compared to the same period last year.
Stratford upon Avon hotels also recorded a positive month of March with TRevPAR and GOPPAR rising by 12.0% and 7.9% respectively.
With both occupancy (+5.1 percentage points to 67.8%) and ARR (+3.7% to £75.31) increasing, hotels in Shakespeare’s town experienced RevPAR growth of 12.1%.
