A wellness charity is turning to the hospitality sector to revitalise its services for cancer patients and survivors with newly designed treatment options.
Cancer Touch Therapy, which is being funded by Made For Life Organics and is designed to roll out across the hospitality sector, is a new course aimed at spa managers and therapists to enable them to offer specialist treatments for clients that have been affected by cancer.
Over 200 spa managers and therapists across the UK are now qualified through the fully CMA accredited three-day Cancer Touch Therapy training course, to welcome those going through cancer with confidence and clarity.
The course was developed, with input from trained oncology massage teachers, advisors within the oncology team at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and also Macmillan.
All profits from the training course go directly into the registered charity Made for Life Foundation to continue to drive the complementary support services offered though the charity.
Amanda Winwood, managing director of Made for Life Organics and founder of the Made for Life Foundation said: “At a time when a therapeutic and nurturing touch is most needed, 96% of spas still turn people away whilst they are going through cancer. We believe that all spas should be accessible.
“Through our work with the Made for Life Foundation we have for 15 years, consistently ensured that we pro-vide this support; using appropriate protocols combined with our 100% organic skincare and wellbeing range of products. Our CMA accredited Cancer Touch Therapy training course has enabled many spas, managers and therapists to confidently open their doors to anyone going through cancer and provide much needed support.”
The Cancer Touch Therapy course has been implemented at over 20 spas across the UK, including Brandshatch Place Hotel & Spa, Fawsley Hall Hotel & Spa, Norton House Hotel & Spa, The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa and Crantock Bay, among many more.
In early 2018, Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel in London and The Balmoral in Edinburgh will introduce Cancer Touch Therapy in their respective spas.
