Hyatt has become the latest brand to launch an independent hotel collection.
‘The Unbound Collection by Hyatt’ is said to be targeted towards modern travellers who seek unique experiences, and curates historic landmarks, boutique hotels, resorts and contemporary properties around the world.
Properties in the collection will therefore boast an historic past, top location, innovative design or an award-winning dining experience.
So far, hotels in The Unbound Collection include the Hotel du Louvre in Paris; The Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas; the Carmelo Resort & Spa in Uruguay; and the Coco Palm Resort in Kauai, Hawaii.
Hyatt is the latest in a long line of hotel groups to edge their way into the boutique hotel market.
Marriott’s The Autograph Collection counts more than 90 independent properties around the world under its umbrella. In 2014, Hilton launched Curio, a group of four- to five-star hotels that represent their local area and offer ‘authentic’ experiences to that destination.
The Starwood Tribute portfolio launched last year, as a collection of independent hotels that include the debut UK property, The Great Northern Hotel in London.
