The Belfry hotel in Sutton Coldfield has revealed ambitious plans for an extensive refurbishment, which will see a new spa and additional bedrooms created.
The hotel, which is operated by former Hotel du Vin and Malmaison owner KSL Capital Partners, is planning to expand its bedrooms by more than a third, replace its Bel Air nightclub with a spa and create a new 500-seater conference space, as well as a new indoor waterpark.
The hotel currently is home to 320 bedrooms with plans submitted for a further 112 rooms to be developed.
The golf resort, which has hosted the Ryder Cup four times, will convert its nightclub located close to The Belfry’s 10th hole into a new spa to be operated by ESPA.
The plans also include a new indoor water entertainment park for hotel guests, designed by WTI which has created a number of renowned parks in the US, Europe and Australia.
The project would be the second multi-million pound development undertaken by the resort in five years, with the venue having completed a £27m revamp in July 2014.
The scheme is being designed by London based EPR Architects who specialise in luxury and boutique hotels.
