IHG to bring boutique offering to London’s Aldgate

IHG has announced the signing of a new Hotel Indigo in London, to be situated in Aldgate.

The new-build hotel, which will be part of the brand’s boutique arm, will consist of 207 bedrooms located close to the key business districts in the capital including Canary Wharf, the City and Liverpool Street.

Hotel Indigo London – Aldgate is currently scheduled to open in 2017 and will mark the brand’s first property in East London.

Just like the other Hotel Indigo properties in the IHG portfolio, the new hotel will aim to reflect the local culture, character and history of the surrounding area.

Anna Corkill, development director, UK & Ireland, IHG said: “Together with Meadow Partners and Roquebrook we’re proud to be bringing the first Hotel Indigo hotel to East London. London is one of the most popular travel destinations in the world and is therefore a key global city for everyone. With so many unique neighbourhoods, it is the perfect location for the brand and this latest signing is very much in line with our growth plans for the city.”

Last year the Hotel Indigo brand celebrated its tenth anniversary with the opening of its 60th hotel globally – Hotel Indigo Paris Opera.

IHG’s global expansion has accelerated over the past three years, with the portfolio of open hotels outside of the US more than tripling in size.

In Europe, there are 19 Hotel Indigo properties open with a further 11 hotels in IHG’s development pipeline. Of those, nine Hotel Indigo properties are open in the UK and a further eight are in the pipeline.
