Pebble House in Cornwall is an award-winning six bed-boutique B&B owned by escaping Londoners, Andrea and Simon Copper. It opened in April 2013 after an 18-month renovation period, which saw it taken from a traditional bed and breakfast to a booming, chic beachside boutique.
Simon worked in cars all his life before the career change and most notably Mercedes Benz, Corporate, for 22 years. Andrea has had a varied career path, from publican, UK recruitment & HR manager for an international group, spa manager for a five-star hotel group in London, to marketing manager for multinational company, and her last job, as a business manager for a national charity in central London where she also lived for 22 years.
Just five months after opening, Pebble House was awarded the AA five-star Gold for both guest accommodation and breakfast and a five-star Gold VisitEngland award quickly followed.
This year has also started with a bang for the pair, as Pebble House was given a bronze award at the 2016 VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, after winning double Gold awards in Cornwall Tourism and South West Excellence Awards.
The property, which was originally built in 1933 and previously named Southcliffe, has been designed to make the most of its coastal location, with all rooms, bar one, boasting panoramic sea views.
The guest house is an adults only accommodation and while there is no restaurant on site, Pebble House is licensed for Champagne cream teas and light snacks on the terrace in the summer for both residents and non-residents.
The innovative business also offers everything that is on show for sale to guests, offering customers the chance to take a piece of Pebble House home with them; everything they see touch and use is for sale and resident guests receive 10% off selected items.
