The shortlist for the two awards given at this October’s Independent Hotel Show has now been announced.

The accolades, Independent Hotelier and Outstanding New Hotel, will be handed to two businesses from the shortlists decided upon by an industry judging committee, including last year’s winners Kate Levin, general manager at The Capital and Tracy Lowy, owner of The Laslett.

The Independent Hotelier award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the independent hotel sector.

The shortlist for 2017 is Claire Randall, managing director at Lucknam Park; Neil and Zoe Kedward, owners of The Seren Collection; Justin and Charlotte Salisbury, founders of Artist Residence; Nicholas Dickinson, Congham Hall; David and Charlotte Reilly, owners of Yorebridge House and Paul Bayliss from Carden Park.

The category of Outstanding New Hotel celebrates an independently spirited hotel which, although having been in the industry for a relatively short time, has made a significant impact on the industry through its dynamism and innovation.

The shortlist is: The Painswick, opened in 2016 by the Calcot Collection; The Pig at Combe, the fifth piggy in the Home Grown Hotels litter; Foxhill Manor, a private manor house hotel on the Farncombe Estate in the Cotswolds; No.15 Great Pulteney in Bath; King Street Townhouse in Manchester and Sheffield’s Brocco on the Park.

Peter Hancock, chief executive, Pride of Britain Hotels says: “It is clear from the quality of the shortlisted nominees that, once again, the Independent Hotel Show is taking very seriously its responsibility to highlight exemplars who we can all look up to. In every case they are individuals with real day to day involvement in their businesses.”
