Kit Kemp, one half of legendary boutique empire Firmdale, has been named in The Progress 1000, the Evening Standard’s list of London’s most influential people.
Kemp, who together with her husband Tim opened their first hotel in London 30 years ago, is the creative force behind the Firmdale brand, responsible for each boutique’s striking design.
This year, she has made The Progress 1000, the Evening Standard’s celebration of London’s most influential people.
While some names are slowly being revealed, the full list will be published in print, online, on iPad and iPhone on September 16.
Firmdale took the hospitality market in London by storm when the Tim and Kit opened their first establishment, Dorsett Square Hotel in 1985, complete with 38 individually designed bedrooms and a bar and restaurant.
Firmdale portfolio now consists of 10 properties, including 8 London hotels, one serviced apartment offering in the capital, and the Crosby Street Hotel which was the brand’s debut New York boutique when it launched in 2009.
Plans are also in motion for a second boutique in New York.
