Fleurets is marketing a Lake District property well known for its weddings and events business.
The Chequers Hotel & Restaurant in Dalton-in-Furness, South Lake District, Cumbria has been in the same family since 1986 and is being sold due to retirement of the owners.
Karl Benn, from the younger generation, is currently running the Chequers but his own business, has become so successful he can no longer devote time to both.
The Chequers Hotel & Restaurant has focused on weddings, normally catering for 50 to 60 a year.
The wedding room has a vaulted chapel-like ceiling and pew benches, is a very attractive feature, appealing to many according to Lesley Watmough from Fleurets.
"During the week occupancy takes care of itself due to the strong demand for business and commercial trade as a result of the improving economy in this section of Cumbria,” she says.
“The Furness Peninsula is currently experiencing a huge financial boom with more than £5billion in investment forecast in the area over the next 10 years. Therefore, there is a shortage of quality hotel accommodation."
Turnover at The Checquers has increased from circa £800,000 to just over £1m.
Throughout the years the family have spent substantial sums on the whole building décor and quality is to a high modern standard. The asking price is £1,65m.
