A boutique hotel in North Lancashire is tapping into Father’s Day by hosting a special beer tasting event to celebrate on June 21.
Lancaster House is planning to offer all fathers who dine in the hotel’s restaurant on the day a complimentary taste of three different local beers, served from its Sandeman’s Bar.
The hotel, run by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, has been looking at the statistics behind the celebration of Father’s Day compared to Mother’s Day.
According to research, children pay an average of about £27 on gifts for mum, but only typically spend around £14 on dad.
Lancaster House hotel manager Andy Lemm says: “We wanted to lay on a special treat for dads to properly mark Father’s Day this year as recent statistics seem to indicate that in the UK we spend about 50% less than on Mother’s Day.
“We thought it would be a nice gesture to make families think more about dad by offering a beer sampling session as part of our Father’s Day Sunday lunch offer.”
Families will be able to treat their dads to a ‘beer bat’ of the hotel’s finest brews, including Lancaster Brewery Blonde, Jennings Cumberland Ale and Lancaster Straw.
The beer tasting event will compliment guest’s dining experience at the hotel’s Foodworks restaurant, which boasts a AA Red Rosette for its food.
