A hotel in Hull has opened a venue following a £2m development, with the general manager now hoping to capitalise further on the weddings and events market in the area.
The Lazaat Hotel has launched a new building with an entrance area with a bar and two large spaces designed to host weddings, conferences and functions.
The new development replaces a large marquee which had previously been used for events on site.
The work on the permanent building started in January this year, with the venue having hosted its first wedding two weeks ago. It is now fully booked with weddings on Saturdays for the rest of the year.
26 new rooms have also been started above the new venue but will not be fully completed for the ‘next couple of months’.
Speaking to Hull Daily Mail, general manager, Dale Needham, said “We’ve really increased the amount of business we can take. So this has 26 rooms and the space has enough room for about 400 people to be sat down. The marquee we had for seven years only sat about 280.”
The new development follows investment on the hotel’s refurbished restaurant which was completed last year.
