One of the North’s leading chefs has moved from Headlam Hall in Darlington to The Rose and Crown in Teesdale, to maintain and strengthen its 2 AA Rosette status.

David Hunter, head chef at four-star Headlam Hall for the past 14 years, will now take the helm at one of the top inns in the North of England, The Rose & Crown.

The Rose & Crown in Teesdale was bought two years ago by the Robinson Family, who now hope Hunter will continue to build on the success of the inn’s food offering.

Newly appointed Hunter said of his new role: “Having visited the Rose & Crown a few times I could see the huge potential to further enhance the excellent food offering and hopefully bring some of my passion for food to the plate. I am looking forward to creating an exciting fine-dining menu for the restaurant and some great pub-classics with a creative twist for the bar.”

During his time at Headlam, Hunter achieved 2 AA rosettes, Taste Durham Highest Quality Assured and Local Champion Awards and a consistent five-star food hygiene rating.
