Residents of a small town in Scotland have been offered the chance to invest in an ambitious project to turn a rundown former church into a new boutique hotel.
The owners of the planned Monzie Hotel in Crieff, which would take its home in the Old South Church, plan to transform the building into a 12-bedroom boutique with the help of crowd-funding website, www.crowdcube.com.
Planning permission for the development of the hotel was granted last year and it is hoped the new establishment will open in spring of 2016.
Mr Burke bought the Old South Church in 2012 and now hopes to raise a £1m investment for a 20% equity stake in the hotel.
Speaking to The Courier, John Burke, managing director and founder of the Monzie, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest from the local community regarding the transformation of Old South Church into a hotel and we wanted to offer everyone a chance to invest in the project via crowdcube.com.”
