Dukes St James London has launched G & Tea, a new afternoon tea experience combining two popular British traditions; afternoon tea and gin and tonic.
The luxury boutique has recognised the trend for tea-infused alcohol and vintage-inspired drinking parties and is capitalising on the newest gin creation of Beefeater gin infused with dried black tea leaves.
The idea came from the hotel’s food and beverage manager, Robert de Vivo, and the tea is served in a delicate china teacup, and can be combined with ice and tonic during the summer or as a hot punch in the winter.
‘G & Tea’ begins by guests selecting their preferred infusion, using either a black vanilla tea or traditional Earl Grey. Once chosen, a dedicated Dukes waiter will serve guests their preferred tipple from vintage decanters. Guests will then be offered a homemade sweetened tonic syrup to top up the drink to their heart’s content.
Accompanying afternoon tea culinary delights include a selection of H. Forman’s smoked Scottish salmon, ham and tomato, cream cheese and cucumber and coronation chicken finger sandwiches, an assortment of pastries and fruit and plain scones.
