Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire is inviting guests to send in photos of home-baked creations, to then be judged in a Great British Bake Off style process.
The competition is being run to celebrate 10 years since the release of Layer Cake, which was filmed at the hotel a decade ago.
The luxury 49-bedroom hotel is home to three restaurants, a golf course, 10 private rooms, tennis courts and a spa and treatment rooms. The team is hoping the innovative idea will prompt more people to interact with the hotel.
The hotel’s executive chef, Chris Wheeler, maker of the original cake which features in the film, is encouraging aspiring bakers to send in their own ‘Layer Cake’ photos and recipes for the competition.
Each creation will then be judged, before being whittled down to 10 finalists, who will then be invited to Stoke Park for a special afternoon tea at the movies party, where Chris and his head pastry chefs will judge each cake on November 25th.
The overall winner will be rewarded with a luxury stay for two at the hotel, with a six-course tasting menu complete with paired wines in Humphry’s, Stoke Park’s fine dining restaurant, as well as spa treatments and a baking masterclass with Chris and his team.
