A hotel in Northern Ireland has unveiled the results of its recent £3.5m makeover, which has seen its meetings and events facilities expanded in a bid to drive more bookings to this sector of the business.
The Silverbirch Hotel in Omagh in Co Tyrone has completed a refurbishment following a two-year project that has resulted in the addition of an extension and a makeover of its existing business centre.
A two-storey event space has also been created, while external features of the hotel such as landscaping and parking have also been upgraded.
The family-run business is hoping to increase its share of the business event and weddings markets and has appointed 25 new members of staff to help drive this demand.
The three-star Silverbirch Hotel celebrates 40 years in business later this year, as owner Allan Duncan says the investment has breathed ‘new life’ into the hotel.
“Our previous event space was dated, had a limited capacity and was in need of renovating,” he explains. “We completely demolished the space and started again, creating a two floor event space. The ground floor level is our new event space for private hire and can hold up to 700 guests. The first floor banqueting suite can cater for weddings and dinners for up to 400 guests.”
