The Grains Bar Hotel in Denshaw, Greater Manchester has been sold to a new operator, who is now bidding to bring the property national exposure as a wedding venue.

The 300-year-old three storey hotel is set in nine acres of farmland with views of Saddleworth Moors, and has been snapped up by Lisa Holroyd, who is taking her first steps into hospitality.

The site however had previously been owned by her family, prior to its current owners who have run the property for the past 20 years.

The Grains Bar Hotel is home to 23 bedrooms and a 75-cover heated marquee that is a permanent fixture catering for weddings and events year round.

There are now several growth opportunities for the hotel and Holroyd, with Tom O’Malley, from Christie + Co, who handled the sale, saying that the offering attracted a lot of interest and multiple bids.

He comments: “Due to the growth potential of the business coupled with its incredible location, the sale attracted a lot of interest and multiple bids – mainly from local operators. We agreed a sale to Lisa who is a first-time operator and offered over the asking price.”

Holroyd adds: “Bringing back the hotel into my family was a great opportunity. I want to continue to create a warm and friendly environment for all our guests, alongside creating beautiful and affordable wedding and event spaces for people to enjoy. It is important to me that my customers have a great experience at the hotel and create lots of happy memories. Our boundaries run alongside the Pennine Way and we are set in the beautiful countryside with picturesque views surrounding us.”
