Following an AA inspection in March, The Beach at Bude has been rated four-stars, with its restaurant awarded 2 AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.
The 16-bedroom boutique hotel and restaurant, which overlooks Summerleaze Beach, impressed judges on the six critical assessment areas; cleanliness, hospitality, service, bedrooms, bathrooms and food, and was scored 78 out of 100.
The score bracket for four stars is 70 to 84.
The restaurant was awarded two AA Rosettes for Culinary Excellence based on the critique of three courses chosen from the menu by the inspector: mushroom and egg yolk ravioli to start; lamb striploin with boulangère potatoes for the main course; and panna cotta with rhubarb and ginger crumble for dessert.
The Rosette accreditation represents a significant achievement for hotel owners Will and Susie Daniel, and for head chef Joe Simmonds.
