Managing director of Rockliffe Hall in County Durham has announced his department from the hotel, stepping down after six years.
Nick Holmes joined the luxury five-star establishment in 2008, a year before it opened and has had a major hand in helping the hotel to become one of the top properties in the North East.
The 61-bedroom hotel will now see Simon Roberts, previously hotel manager, run the property as resort manager.
Rockliffe Hall is also home to a golf course, luxurious spa and an extensive meetings and events space.
Nick Holmes said: “After six fantastic years and with some sadness, I must announce that my tenure as managing director of Rockliffe Hall has now reached its natural conclusion.
“When I accepted the post back in 2008 my primary task was to lead the opening and establishment of Rockliffe to help create one of the country’s premium five-star resort destinations. I am proud to say that, with the magnificent team I have had the privilege of helping to build and lead, this has been mostly achieved and I must now move onto the fresh challenges available to me. I want to thank each and every team member past and present who have contributed to our success. Without doubt we have created a major force within the industry.
“Please let me place on record my thanks and appreciation to Warwick Brindle (chairman) and Steve Gibson (owner) for the opportunity of leading this dream project and who have always been entirely supportive of me and our shared vision, we certainly part as friends and on extremely positive terms.
“I am sure that this is only the beginning for Rockliffe Hall and it can only go from strength to strength in the years to come."
