Lympstone Manor, the luxury hotel in Devon run by acclaimed chef Michael Caines, has been awarded a five-star rating from the AA.
The mark comes just a year after the property opened its doors in April 2016.
The hotel was described by the AA as a ‘very special place’ with inspectors impressed with the ‘hands-on vision’ from chef Caines.
Lympstone Manor is home to 21 bedrooms and was accepted into Relais & Châteaux after only three months of being open and a Michelin star after only six months of operating.
In July 2017, the hotel pledged to recycle or recover 100% of waste across its bedrooms and fine-dining restaurant in a new partnership.
Then earlier this year, the hotel announced that it is to plant a vineyard within its estate, which will eventually result in the production of classic Champagne-method sparkling wines in 2023.
Speaking about the new AA rating, Caines said: “We are so proud to have received a five star AA rating at Lympstone Manor. Since opening the hotel in April last year the team has continued to work hard to offer every guest a fantastic experience so it’s great to see our offering reflected by this prestigious accolade. This is a huge achievement for us and we’re honoured to now hold five AA stars.”
Gary Baldwin, senior hotel and restaurant inspector and area manager commented: “Our inspectors were impressed with the physical quality of the property, a true hands-on vision from Michael, excellent attention to detail and quality noted throughout. This official star grading is only the beginning of the Lympstone journey, with exciting plans ahead to make this an even greater destination.”
