Michelin-starred chefs at Forest Side inspire the next generation in the Lakes

The Michelin-starred chefs at luxury boutique hotel Forest Side have teamed up with a local primary school in a bid to inspire the next generation into a hospitality career.

Kevin Tickle at his team at the Wildsmith Hotels’ property in Grasmere have partnered with Grasmere Primary School as part of the Centre for Leadership Performance’s Bright Stars 2017 project.

Bright Stars is designed to introduce primary school pupils to the excitement of running their own mini-companies.

Every Bright Stars school is given £50 with one simple instruction – to make it grow through investment and creativity over the course of 8 weeks.

As part of the project, Forest Side is providing advice and guidance, and helping to introduce Grasmere Primary’s budding entrepreneurs to business basics including accounting, manufacturing, marketing, team work and leadership and management.

Students from Grasmere Primary have had their preliminary meeting with the team from Forest Side, worked up their business plan and are now preparing to roll out their first Bright Stars business idea.

As part of the new venture, Forest Side is working on a new afternoon tea menu with the students from Grasmere Primary School, in time for Valentine’s Day.

With ingredients donated by catering suppliers Wellocks, the business pairing have created a selection of new flavour combinations especially for 14 February.
