Boutique Hotelier can now announce that Mitre Linen has come on board to sponsor the brand’s Personal Service Star Awards, and for the third consecutive year will support the Housekeeping Manager of the Year accolade.
Yesterday saw BH reveal that the hugely successful Personal Service Star Awards will be held once again on the first night of the Independent Hotel Show on October 18, at London’s Hilton Hotel, Olympia, and this year will carry a number of exciting new changes.
As well as a new-look logo and the addition of new category – General Manager of the Year – a judging panel, formed of five industry experts, will now join the event to decide on the winners of each of the 11 categories.
Last year, Angela Ellis, the head housekeeper for The Zetter Group, won the award after impressing with her hard work and commitment.
Stephen Broadhurst, managing director of Mitre Linen, said: “At Mitre Linen, we recognise the importance of the unsung heroes that are at the heart of the hotel industry – the housekeepers.
“As part of their role, they are responsible for the appearance of the hotel rooms and the bed linen which has a huge impact on the guest’s stay, making the difference between a fantastic night’s sleep and an average hotel stay.
“Exceptional housekeeping can be a way to set a hotel apart from its competitors.
“Last year the standards were extremely high and the Housekeeping category received the most nominations and Angela stood out as an exceptional Housekeeping Manager. It just goes to show the level of staff excellence at some of the UK’s top hotels, highlighting how integral the role of the Housekeeper is to the success of an establishment and in turn the hospitality industry as whole.
“Awards like this are important to the industry, which is why we are honoured to support them. It’s this type of recognition that can really encourage employees and give them that spur to take the next step in their career. We wish all the 2016 nominees the very best of luck.”
The Boutique Hotelier Personal Service Star Awards were launched in 2014 to recognise the hard work and dedication of staff working at boutique hotels up and down the country.
Rather than handing out gongs to the owners and business managers, Boutique Hotelier wants to reward those working tirelessly in an industry that often comes without praise and high pay.
Mitre Linen is a trusted British supplier to leading luxury and boutique hotels and is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.
The company, which has been working within the hospitality industry since 1946, unveiled its biggest ever catalogue earlier this year.
Mitre Linen’s customers include the Royal Household and some of the world’s finest hotels.
