A restaurant a hotel in the Lake District has introduced a new ‘mobile phone creche’ to encourage guests to ditch the device and switch off.

Following a recent refurbishment, The Burlington Restaurant at the four-star Beech Hill Hotel in Windermere will give guests the chance to hand over their mobile phone to front of house staff to place in the ‘creche’ while they dine.

The idea is to allow guests to ‘escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life’ without ‘distracting sound’.
