Boutique hotel guides and booking site brand Mr & Mrs Smith has launched a range of paints inspired by a decade of stays in design-led hotels.
Mr & Mrs Smith at Home is a collection of 28 shades recalling the lighting and look of locations from Morocco and Miami to Ithaca and Iceland divided into three categories: city, country and coast. The collection will be available to buy online at colourandpaint.com, in a deep flat matt finish, from August.
Launching alongside the paints is the iPatch, an alternative to match pots and colours cards. The flexible, A4 iPatches have a coat of real paint on one side and low-tack adhesive backing on the other. The patches display a layer of real pigment for an accurate colour match.
Mr & Mrs Smith CEO and co-founder James Lohan told Boutique Hotelier that the brand was looking at developing other home decor ranges and furnishings.
“We’re also hoping to go into more things — linens etc, so it’s about bringing the boutique hotel look home. But that doesn’t mean people can’t use it in small, boutique hotels. It’s something we’re very passionate about and it seems like a nice extension for us because we’ve always wanted to be more than a travel company.
“We love the travel aspect of our business but we’ve always felt we’ve been building more of a brand that can branch off into other things and there are lots of things in the pipeline,” added Lohan.
