New 128-bed hotel plan set to be approved in York

A plan for a new hotel and drive-through restaurant in York looks set to be approved when the proposal is put to councillors on Thursday.

The proposal is being headed up by Tiger Developments, who wants to build a 128-bedroom hotel next to the old Frog Hall pub site in Layerthorpe.

The hotel, if given the green light, would also be home to an ancillary restaurant at ground floor level, plus the site would house a separate commercial unit, a drive-through restaurant with a 165 sq m customer floor space.

Similar plans were approved by councillors in 2012, but the project stalled due to health and safety problems surrounding the building.

The original plans have now been adjusted and submitted for a second time.

City of York Council’s planning committee will discuss plans on Thursday. They have already been advised to approve the proposal subject to final designs being agreed with officers.
