A hotel in Northampton is going full speed ahead on its £300k transformation, in preparation for its launch in September.
The hotel, at 13 Guildhall Road near the Royal and Derngate, is now owned by Rakesh Thakarar and his wife Minal, who have ploughed £300k into converting the Edwardian property – that used to be the chief constable’s house – into a 13-bed boutique hotel and cafe.
Rakesh said that the work is progressing well and he hopes to complete the project in September.
The couple have also announced plans for a restaurant next door, which will eventually serve Indian street food, but are first concentrating on getting the hotel off the ground.
The hotel will be marketed as a place for guests to go to enjoy cocktails or pre-theatre drinks, given its prominent position in the town.
