Plans for a new five-star boutique hotel in Peeblesshire have been revealed.
Pentland Lodge Ltd have plans for a £4 million operation to build a 20-bedroom hotel on the edge of West Linton, which they hope will create 13 jobs.
Managers of the Chirnside Hall Hotel in Berwickshire, Tessa Leenders and Christian Korsten, and two other partners are behind the plans.
The firm hopes to start building by next March as it has already acquired the 1.65 hectare site at North Slipperfield.
A spokesman for the development told Peeblesshire News: “The proposed development comprises a boutique hotel, with a bespoke design, which seeks to complement the rural area and provide accommodation to visitors looking to enjoy recreational opportunities provided on the estate and in the surrounding countryside.
“A high quality design is proposed so that the hotel will be an attractor of demand in itself and the applicants currently run a hotel development in the Borders and therefore have direct first-hand experience of customer demand and expectations.
“It has been established that there is a gap in the market for a boutique hotel in this north western area of the Scottish Borders and the proposed development seeks to fill this.”
The spokesman hopes the restaurant and hotel will support the local economy by encouraging visitors to spend money at surrounding towns and attractions and to spend time partaking in recreational opportunities.
