A new head chef has joined the team at St James Hotel, bringing with him a range of new dishes and combinations to the menu to stir things up at the Nottingham boutique.
Mark Batchford brings with him a wealth of experience to the new role, previously working as head chef at Perkins Restaurant in Plumtree and cooking for the likes of Paul Scholes and Duncan Bannatyne.
Batchford is excited to take the helm in the kitchen at the hotel’s new bar No/6.
He said: “I’m really excited to get stuck in, using all the knowledge and experience I’ve gathered over the years.
“The new menu is really focused on what the customers want. From light bites to gourmet fish and chips, there is something for everyone.
“Once the menu is established we hope to work more closely with the bar to produce special menus for special events and themed nights.
Richard Johal, general manager of the St James Hotel, said: “It’s great to have Mark on board. He has a vast amount of experience and is extremely passionate about his work.
In the new year, the hotel will be launching an afternoon tea menu after seeing demand from customers visiting the nearby castle or enjoying the shops in the Castle Quarter.
Johal added: “From the specialised cocktail menu at the No/6 to the art exhibitions in the Left Gallery which is situated next to the bar, the St James has so much to offer. It is therefore really important that we have a kitchen team that meets the high standards of the rest of the business.”
