A proposal for a new hotel to be built on the site of Jersey’s Metropole hotel is being considered.
The plan would see the construction of a new 35-bedroom hotel on the site of the St Helier hotel, alongside 19 new flats.
While details of the hotel are still under wraps, the homes would be either one- or two-bed and with having balconies or terraces.
It is thought that due to the proposed size of the hotel, it could become a boutique establishment after the original Metropole Hotel closes as planned by the end of the year.
The three-star hotel is part of The Modern Hotels Group, which consists of Hotel Metropole and The Mayfair Hotel.
Developers Dandara applied to demolish the property in Roseville Street in February and the application for the new venture comes six months after Dandara submitted plans for social housing on the site.
