Colliers International has sold Paddocks House to a wedding venue operator, who will now work to reposition the property as an exclusive-use weddings and events business.
The hotel, near Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, was previously owned by The House Collection before the group went into administration in June 2015 and new owners were sought in October.
The country house hotel is home to 13 bedrooms, a restaurant and event rooms and has been sold to specialist wedding venue operator, Hedley James for an undisclosed price.
The property will now cease to operate as a hotel, but instead will trade as a luxury and exclusive-use weddings and events venue under the new name of Swynford Manor.
Paul Barrasford, director of Hotels Agency, Colliers International said: “The stylish product offering and fantastic trading location attracted a substantial amount of buyer interest. We are delighted to have sold the hotel to such an experienced operator who I’m sure will establish the property as one of the region’s pre-eminent events and wedding venues.”
David Leathem, founder of Hedley James Ltd, commented: “I am extremely pleased with our new acquisition and together with a great team of people at Swynford Manor we look forward to welcoming all of our present and future clients to an amazing and truly exclusive-use weddings and functions experience at this historic and beautiful property. I’m also particularly delighted that we’ve been able to reintroduce the Swynford name to this venue as it is steeped in history and connections with the local horseracing community in and around Newmarket.”
