The new owners of Cley Hall Hotel have already implemented a series of upgrades at their new acquisition, just one month after takeover.

Olga and Gurnake Cheema, who currently own three hotels in East Sussex, acquired the 18th century hotel from David Stanbridge Andrew Robb in April and have now already converted the former owners’ living quarters into four new bedrooms.

This takes the total number of rooms up to 19.

Prior to the sale, Olga said that the appeal of the property was its turnover and the potential of adding extra rooms.

Nikki Deans, who was general manager under the previous ownership, has stayed on as GM.

Now following the bedrooms extension, next on the agenda is a new restaurant.

She said: “This was the cherry on the cake for us. The hotel is run very well we want to increase the revenue.

“There is planning permission for a 100 seater restaurant and that is something that we may add if there is the demand for it.”

Olga and Gurnake also own The George Hotel in Battle and both the Millifont Guest House and Lansdowne Hotel in Hastings.

At the moment, the hotel is run as a bed and breakfast and is also popular for its afternoon teas.
