The Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club in Exeter has been sold to The Club Company off a guide price of £11.75m.
The four-star, 56-bedroom country house hotel and spa, set in 248 acres, had previously been owned by Mr and Mrs Hawkins and built up an impressive reputation as a well established destination over the years.
It’s been acquired by The Club Company, which owns and operates 11 health clubs and hotels across the UK.
The Woodbury Park Hotel is also home to two golf courses, The Acorns and The Oaks, a driving range, plus conference facilities and a leisure club, which is open to the public.
There are also five self catering lodges, two restaurants, football pitches and tennis courts on site.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of Woodbury Salterton, 10 miles east of Exeter and six miles from Exmouth railway station. Local attractions include the Jurassic Coast and Crealy Adventure Park.
Martin Rogers, head of UK hotel transactions at Savills, comments: “We are delighted to have sold the Woodbury Park Hotel and Golf Club for our client. Over the years it has built up a great reputation as a well established destination, with visitor numbers boosted by the extensive golf and leisure facilities on offer.”
