A new spirit served at Bohemia Bar and Restaurant in Jersey has become one of the top-selling tipples at the Jersey boutique, rivalling traditional drinks of choice, vodka and gin.
The Michelin-starred restaurant, located at The Club Hotel and Spa in Jersey, has introduced Lanique, a rose liqueur spirit revived from a 200-year-old recipe and it’s gone down a storm in the boutique’s bar.
The drink, which Bohemia was the first to serve, is now one of the top three selling spirits alongside the house vodka and gin, signalling a new boozy trend and customer demand for something new.
Lanique is also stocked in some of the top bars and restaurants in the UK, where some bartenders are heralding it as the ‘next big drink’.
Tim Phillips, manager of Bohemia Bar & Restaurant said: “We can’t believe how popular Lanique has become. Everyone who tries it for the first time just absolutely loves it and keeps coming back for more – particularly as its signature serve Lanique & Lime – straight up over crushed ice with fresh lime juice. The bar team use Lanique in several of our unique cocktails including the Mexican Rose and Cosmique but the Lanique & Lime has proved a huge hit with our bar and restaurant customers.”
The rose petal liqueur has a special fragrant flavour similar to Turkish Delight and is made from natural ingredients. It dates back more than 200 years and was first enjoyed by European high society folk in the 1800s at celebrations and balls.
