Two new restaurants have just opened on Portobello Road’s The Distillery, which recently opened in London’s Notting Hill.
London’s first boutique hotel within a gin distillery is now home to The Resting Room and GinTonica which are quickly becoming highly sought after places to dine.
Overlooking Portobello Road, The Resting Room offers one-of-a-kind spirits from around the globe (poured directly from barrels rested above the bar), a cocktail menu from master distiller Jake Berger and traditional English comfort food with a modern twist.
Its cocktail menu comprises of fourteen classic mixed drink divisions, each with a hand-picked selection of the choicest seasonal cocktails of the category. These selections include martinis, juleps, old fashioneds, cobblers and sours — and showcase unique gin blends such as Asparagus and Navy Strength gins, made in The Distillery’s 400L Copper Port Still, King Henry.
One floor up, GinTonica is themed on Spain’s Basque region and has a Spanish-inspired bar and kitchen. It offers numerous kinds of G&Ts – some garnished with orange, lavender and cocoa nibs, plus upscale tapas such as Pan Catalan and Boquerones.
The walls are vibrantly clad with colorful prints and the partially open-plan kitchen provides a laid-back feel designed to be reminiscent of the relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle.
Both restaurants are open for lunch and dinner and each bar is open until late seven days a week.
